Chamomile Tea Latte Tips

One of the best benefits of making a chamomile tea latte at home is that you can alter the flavor as much as you want! Here is what you need to know about this tasty latte:

What is chamomile, anyway?

Chamomile is a flowering plant closely related to the daisy. You might spot the tiny white flowers growing along fences or in meadows! Chamomile tea is made by steeping the dried flowers in hot water. It’s an herbal tea, so it doesn’t contain tea leaves or caffeine.

In regards to flavor, chamomile is mellow and smooth, with slight hints of apple and delicate floral notes. It goes especially well with honey!

Other Kinds of Tea

Chamomile tea is tasty in latte form, but you can substitute a different kind of tea if you’d like. Try a chai tea blend for a chai tea latte or an Earl Grey for a cozy London Fog latte. If you want caffeine in your cup, stick with black or green teas, both of which will contain at least a little caffeine. Want to add coffee to your cup? Try a dirty chai latte made with chai tea, milk, and espresso.

There are many types of tea leaves, but most come from the Camellia sinensis plant.

What kind of milk works best?

Chamomile tea lattes are delicious with basically any kind of milk, including regular and non-dairy options. We particularly enjoy almond milk in this recipe — the slightly nutty flavor goes well with the floral tea — but other great options include coconut milk, regular milk, oat milk, and soy milk. Try your favorite kind of milk and see what you think!
