Equipment

  • AeroPress (with paper filters)
  • Kettle
  • Coffee grinder
  • Mason jar
  • Large glass

Ingredients

  • 7 ounces filtered water
  • 15 grams fresh coffee beans
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Bring your filtered water to a boil and grind your coffee beans. You want the water at about 200 F, just below boiling. The beans are best at a medium-fine consistency.
  2. Set up your AeroPress. Rinse a paper filter and attach the filter cap to your AeroPress brewing chamber.
  3. Add ice to your mason jar. We like to use coffee ice cubes for a stronger drink, but you can use regular ice instead. Then place the AeroPress on top of it with the filter cap at the bottom. Pour your coffee grounds into the brewer and tap gently to flatten the bed.
  4. Pour an ounce of water over the grounds in a gentle circle. Let the coffee bloom for about 30 seconds.
  5. Carefully pour in the rest of the water, making sure you evenly distribute it over the coffee. Give the wet grounds a stir or two while they’re brewing. Let the coffee steep for two minutes.
  6. Attach the plunger and push the coffee through the filter until you hear a hissing sound. Then remove the AeroPress.
  7. Put the lid on the mason jar and give it a good shake to thoroughly chill the coffee. Then pour the AeroPress iced coffee into your tall glass. Add milk, sugar, or other flavorings if you’d like!

AeroPress Iced Coffee Brewing Tips

Ready to start brewing? Here are a few helpful tips:

Coffee Ice Cubes

We love using coffee ice cubes in every iced coffee drink because it helps preserve the best flavors. Regular ice cubes will add water to your drink as they melt, messing up the coffee-to-water ratio that’s so important to get a great flavor. But freezing your leftover coffee will let you have the best of both worlds: a cold coffee drink with no extra water! Keep a tray of coffee ice cubes in the freezer all the time for effortless iced coffee.

You can use your favorite AeroPress recipe to make iced coffee. If you prefer the inverted method, go for it! Experimenting with brewing methods is one of the best parts of owning an AeroPress. The crucial part of this AeroPress iced coffee recipe is brewing it over ice. Shaking the coffee and ice in a mason jar speeds up the chilling process.

Extra Flavors

AeroPress iced coffee is delicious on its own, letting the unique flavors of your coffee beans shine through. But if you’re not a fan of black coffee, why not add a splash of homemade coffee creamer or syrup? We also like muddling fresh mint leaves into our iced coffee or sprinkling on a little cinnamon or turmeric.
